Collaborate With Marymount for Clinical Placement<\/strong><\/p>\n Marymount works with you to offer a high-quality placement experience that meets the University\u2019s clinical requirements and prepares you for success in your future practice. <\/p>\n The Placement Coordinators will:<\/strong><\/p>\n The Clinical Placement Coordinators act as facilitators and the primary point of contact for you regarding concerns about finding clinical placements. They are responsible for communicating all field\/clinical placement matters, including:<\/strong><\/p>\n What is Clinical Placement?<\/strong>Clinical placement is the required educational component of Marymount University\u2019s Online Family Nurse Practitioner programs and the accelerated BSN program. Clinical work parallels the classroom-based coursework to prepare for entry to the profession of advanced practice nursing.<\/p>\n What Value Will the Placement Team Provide?<\/strong>The Placement Team will assist and collaborate with you in handling the logistics, allowing you to focus on the coursework and the core competencies that will propel your placement experience. As an active participant in the placement process, providing referrals from your local community increases your chances of securing quality sites and preceptors. Networking within your placement site will help you create professional connections that can often lead to future placement and employment opportunities.<\/p>\n How Does the Clinical Placement Process Work? The Placement Team will collaborate with you to secure quality placement sites and preceptors. In addition to completing the intake form, you will be responsible for completing the clinical clearance requirements prior to the start of clinical which include:<\/p>\n Once your clinical clearances are complete and the site has been approved, your Placement Coordinator will provide the preceptor\u2019s information so you can work with them to plan your schedule. The course faculty will identify when you can start clinical.<\/p>\n What is the Placement Experience Like? When Will I Receive My Placement Details? What Can I Expect on My First Day of Clinicals? What Are My Responsibilities as a Student in a Clinical Rotation? What Can I Expect from My Preceptor? How Should I Prepare For Clinicals?<\/strong><\/p>\n You are not alone in preparing for clinicals! Your Placement Coordinator will send placement details via email so you\u2019re prepared to represent Marymount University in clinical consistency. We\u2019ll also email a clinical checklist detailing the dress code, clinical tools, and professional expectations to ensure your success throughout each rotation. If you have questions at any time, your Placement Coordinator is available by phone or email.<\/p>\n How Will I Be Evaluated and What Will I Learn?<\/strong><\/p>\n You will be evaluated on a pass\/fail basis. There are no letter grades given during clinicals. Frequently Asked Questions About Clinical Placement Services<\/h3>\n
\n<\/strong>Shortly after enrollment, we will introduce you to your dedicated Placement Coordinator who will share the placement intake form, initiating the placement process.<\/p>\n\n
\n<\/strong>During the placement experience, you will have access to faculty and other resources to help you successfully complete the rotation. The faculty will also be available to mentor and support you throughout the rotation if you have any specific questions about the provision of care, procedures, patient interactions, and general proficiencies. At the end of the placement rotation, you and your preceptor will review the requirements, complete evaluations, and officially end the placement rotation.<\/p>\n
\n<\/strong>You\u2019ll receive an email notification from your Placement Coordinator approximately 30 days prior to your clinical rotation.<\/p>\n
\n<\/strong>Clinical orientation is different for each site, but you can expect to complete the clinicals clearances and learn about the appropriate dress codes and the necessary clinical tools prior to starting.<\/p>\n
