Each summer, Marymount University\u2019s DISCOVER Research Program awards student research fellowships to 15-18 Marymount students. These fellowships, available to both undergraduate and graduate Marymount students, provide a financial stipend for students who work one-on-one with a faculty mentor on the faculty mentor\u2019s research project.<\/strong><\/span> Students are selected for this award through a competitive process.<\/p>\n

Both in-person and remote student participation options are available based on the needs of the individual projects. The fellowship promises to be a very positive learning experience and an exceptional opportunity for professional growth and mentorship.<\/p>\n

The Fellowship runs from May 19 , 2025, through June 27, 2025. In addition to the research activities, Fellows participate in weekly community-building, educational, and information-sharing sessions created specifically for the Fellows program. Students are expected to dedicate 12-15 hours weekly to the Fellowship during the 6-week fellowship program.<\/p>\n

HOW DO YOU FIND A PROJECT AND FACULTY MENTOR?<\/span><\/h2>\n

A list of faculty projects for summer 2025 will be posted here. You will be able to scroll through the full list of available topics.<\/p>\n

A list of projects for prior years (see the link on the left) gives a sense of past projects. However, projects change every year so wait for the 2025 posting to see the specific projects offered for summer of 2025.<\/p>\n

Students can apply for up to three different Fellowship projects. No more than one fellowship per student will be awarded.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Application deadline: April 18, 2025. Fellowship awards will be announced by May 7, 2025. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

ELIGIBILITY?<\/span><\/h2>\n

To be eligible for a Summer Research Program Fellowship, a student must be a Marymount student in good academic standing. Students who graduate in May or August of 2025 are NOT<\/strong> eligible.<\/span><\/p>\n

SELECTION PROCESS<\/span><\/h2>\n

The faculty member hosting the research project will review the applications for their specific project(s) and rank order applicants based on the review of the student\u2019s responses to the application.<\/p>\n

Some faculty may choose to interview student candidates. This is optional. Be available for an interview during the month of April, if needed.<\/p>\n

A final \u2018match\u2019 by the Research Committee identifies the best fit for both student and faculty preferences. Notice of the award of the Fellowship should be made by May 2, 2025.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
