The Global Education Office encourages students to research and apply for prestigious global fellowships and scholarships. We are committed to ensuring that all students have access to these opportunities, and our office provides training and support for students to prepare and complete their applications. For more information about any of the programs below, please contact Whitney Morgan (wmorgan@marymount.edu<\/a>), Director of Global Education.<\/p>\n Boren Awards Critical Language Scholarship<\/a> Frederick Douglas Fellowship<\/a><\/strong> Fulbright Awards<\/a> Fulbright Summer Institutes for US Undergraduates<\/a> Gilman International Scholarship for Study Abroad<\/a> Luce Scholars Program<\/a><\/strong> Peace Corps<\/a>
\n<\/strong><\/a>Boren Scholarships (for undergraduate students) and Fellowships (for graduate students) provide unique funding opportunities for U.S. students to study less commonly taught languages in world regions critical to U.S. interests, and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central, and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East.<\/p>\n
\n<\/strong>A fully funded summer overseas language and cultural immersion program for American undergraduate and graduate students. CLS provides opportunities to a diverse range of students from across the United States at every level of language learning. Students of diverse disciplines and majors are encouraged to apply.<\/p>\n
\nThe Frederick Douglass Global Fellowship honors the legacy of the abolitionist and statesman with a fully-funded summer study abroad program. This Fellowship is developed for students of color and selection is in the spirit of Douglass himself with special emphasis on leadership, social justice, agitation for positive change, and cross-cultural understanding.<\/p>\n
\n<\/strong>The Fulbright US Student Program provides grants for individually designed study\/research projects or for English Teaching Assistant Programs. A candidate will submit a Statement of Grant Purpose<\/em> defining activities to take place during one academic year in a participating country outside of the U.S.<\/p>\n
\n<\/strong>The Fulbright UK Summer Institutes are three-to-four-week programs for US undergraduate students. Participants can explore the culture, heritage, and history of the UK while experiencing higher education at a UK university.<\/p>\n
\n<\/strong>The US Department of State\u2019s Benjamin A Gilman International Scholarship is a grant program that enables students of limited financial means to study or intern abroad, thereby gaining skills critical to our national security and economic competitiveness.<\/strong><\/p>\n
\nThis program is designed to provide an extended period of exposure to an Asian country for highly qualified young Americans who lack extensive knowledge of Asian affairs and who would not gain this knowledge through their normal career trajectories. Any professional field will be considered, except Asian Affairs\/Asian Studies. For graduating seniors, recent alumni, graduate students, and junior faculty.<\/strong><\/p>\n
\n<\/strong>The Peace Corps is a service opportunity for motivated changemakers to immerse themselves in a community abroad, working side by side with local leaders to tackle the most pressing challenges of our generation.<\/p>\n
