Library instruction at Marymount is built around a three-stage plan. In the first stage, students are introduced to research concepts and tools in the English composition classes. A librarian is assigned to each composition section and develops a session that supports the learning objectives for the composition classes, class assignment, or project. The Self-Guided Tour is available for students in EN101 and those students in EN102 who are new to the University. Library instruction is taught for the Discover sections and may be scheduled for the Liberal Arts Core courses. A librarian is assigned to each Discover section and develops a session that supports the learning objectives, class assignment, or project.<\/p>\n

In the second stage of instruction, the L&LS offers subject-specific Library Instruction for courses that fulfill the writing requirement in the major or another designated class that majors take early in their sequence. The\u00a0Library Liaisons<\/a>\u00a0work closely with teaching faculty to design sessions that will support class assignments or projects.<\/p>\n

In the third stage of instruction, the L&LS offers subject-specific Library Instruction for courses that fulfill the final writing and research class in the major, the senior seminar, or capstone class. Library Liaisons continue to work closely with teaching faculty to design sessions that meet the needs of these classes. L&LS also strives to offer instruction to all graduate students as they enter their programs to ensure that all students have been introduced to the major tools in their discipline.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
