Dr. Matt Bakker<\/a> conducts research on the economic and political dimensions of transnational migration between Latin America and the United States. He has published widely on migrant political transnationalism across the US-Mexico divide and on the making of migrant remittances as a development tool. His latest research has focused on local immigration policies in the United States and examined efforts by social movements and local government officials to limit cooperation with federal immigration authorities and their migrant detention and deportation apparatus.<\/p>\n
