Welcome to Marymount University’s Honors Program!

The Honors Program at Marymount engages a diverse, intellectually curious community of students and represents all majors on campus. The rigorous 21-credit program (or 18 credits for those entering with 30+ college credits) was established in 2003 to help cultivate students’ research, communication, and critical thinking skills. Students fulfill their program requirements through Honors sections of liberal arts core courses, individualized one-on-one research tutorials with faculty, or graduate courses.

We have an active Honors community on campus, with guest lectures, film screenings, and professional development workshops. We also host bi-weekly socials and coffee hours in our exclusive Honors student lounge. Our Honors Living Learning Community allows students to live with like-minded peers in apartment-style dormitories, down the hall from our lounge. And our prime location, just 5 metro stops from D.C., makes it easy for Honors faculty and staff to lead field trips into D.C. and provide various community-based service opportunities.

We’re excited to announce a prestigious opportunity for select prospective Honors students! For first-year students joining us in the fall 2025 semester, Marymount University will award 15 competitive scholarships of $2,000 per year—on top of other merit-based awards—totaling $8,000 over four years for each student selected! Thanks to the generosity of a donor, Terry Thompson, this scholarship recognizes exceptional students who demonstrate academic excellence and intellectual curiosity.

We are proud to have Honors students who received prestigious Fulbright scholarships, had been named Newman Civic Fellows, were awarded Phi Kappa Phi Scholarships, and received leadership opportunities through AmeriCorps.

If you are a prospective high school, transfer, or a current Marymount student looking to join a supportive intellectual community, I encourage you to learn more about our Honors Program by watching the video below and exploring the tabs to the left.

Sincerely,

Dr. Henry Poduthase
