It is geared toward students who are interested in the teaching profession but who may or may not be working toward a Virginia teaching licensure. Completion of the minor would prepare students to work in a preschool setting, Catholic schools, other independent schools, or in industry training. This minor can be the basis for a licensure program, but completion of the minor is not a licensure program.<\/p>\n<p>The Education minor consists of six (6) courses for a total of 18\u00a0 credits.<\/p>\n<p><u>Minor Requirements<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Take all four (4) of the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>ED 200\u00a0Foundations of Teaching and Learning<\/li>\n<li>PSY 110\u00a0Human Growth and Development<\/li>\n<li>ED 309 Special Education Foundations and Characteristics of Exceptional Learners<\/li>\n<li>ED 351\u00a0Assessment to Support Learning in the K-12 Classroom<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Take two (2) of the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>ED 254\u00a0Technology for the K-12 Classroom<\/li>\n<li>ED 301\u00a0Foundation of Literacy Development<\/li>\n<li>ED 337 Literacy in the Content Areas &#8211; Secondary<\/li>\n<li>ED 338 Curriculum Design: Secondary Education<\/li>\n<li>ED 355 Literacy Instruction for Diverse Learners: Grades PK-2<\/li>\n<li>ED 356 Literacy Instruction for Diverse Learners: Grades 3-6<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please see an education advisor for further information.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This minor is open to students in any major.
