Founded in 1922, TriBeta is nationally recognized as a force in spreading the knowledge of biology through education and research. Marymount\u2019s chapter Eta Kappa was founded in 2001, and each year inductees who meet the academic requirements are inducted into the society.<\/p>\n<h2>Science Club<\/h2>\n<p>The Science Club works as an internal network of support for Biology majors and as an external outreach to bring science into the community surrounding the University. Many activities are planned on an annual basis and all are welcome as we explore the science around us, create support groups in the sciences and bring our science to the outside community. Meetings are publicized on campus, and membership is open to the entire student body.<\/p>\n<h2>Food For Thought<\/h2>\n<p>The Food for Thought club works to alleviate food insecurity and promote urban agriculture in Arlington, VA. Students learn about STEM-focused sustainable urban agriculture, as well as how STEM thinking contributes to meeting a need in the community.<\/p>\n<h2>Belize Service Club<\/h2>\n<p>The Belize Service Club engages in charitable drives and events to raise money or gather donated items for the Gales Point Community, an impoverished community in Belize, located near the site of the Marine Biology and Tropical Ecology Study Abroad course.<\/p>\n<h2>AMSA<\/h2>\n<p>AMSA (American Medical Student Association) is a national organization for pre-med students around the nation to network and take part in opportunities to prepare them for medical school. Marymount AMSA regularly participates in community service projects around the Arlington area, including AFAC (Arlington Food Assistance Center) and other local groups. On-campus events include talks from local physicians, medical students and other health professionals. We also welcome representatives from relevant organizations to speak to our pre-med students, including AMSA national representatives, MCAT professionals, military officers, and advisers for shadowing abroad programs. Marymount AMSA members are encouraged to attend the AMSA National Convention in D.C. each spring. This is an invaluable opportunity for Marymount students to network with other premed and medical students around the country as well as gain experience in leadership and other qualities that will prepare them for medical school.
