English, English & Humanities

I am currently a high school English Teacher at Yorktown High School in Arlington, VA, where I have taught all grade levels, including both regular and Advanced Placement courses. I was the faculty sponsor for the class of 2014, and I am the current faculty sponsor for the class of 2017. I am also an Adjunct Professor at Marymount University where I have taught the following courses: Introduction to College Reading, Introduction to College Writing, English Composition I and II, and American Dream.

Since graduation (BA, 2005; MA, 2008), I have accrued over a decade of teaching experience. I also have three beautiful daughters, Kaia (8), Madison (6), and Jordan (1).

I am most proud of the time I spent in March 2006 in Biloxi, Mississippi, helping families who were affected by Hurricane Katrina to rebuild their homes.

Upon graduation, I knew that I wanted service and commitment to community to be an active part of my endeavors. Participation in a variety of service projects and volunteer experiences while at MU further taught me the importance of always helping others, no matter one’s stage in life.

I will continue my commitment to helping others, especially those in my community. As a teacher, I have been the faculty sponsor for our high school’s Habitat for Humanity chapter. I would also like to advance my career by obtaining a doctorate in Cultural Studies or Writing & Rhetoric.

Wherever your degree takes you (and there are many places a degree in English and/or the Humanities can take you), make sure that you wake up each and everyday with a passion for what you do.
