Adjunct Professor & On line Editor

Life has been busy! After Marymount, I went to George Mason for graduate school, and recently earned a Master of Professional Writing & Rhetoric (PWR). I also worked full time at 5 O’Clock Publishing as a managing editor while in graduate school. Not long ago, I was accepted to Mason’s PhD program in PWR, and started teaching adjunct at Mason.

I recently changed positions at 5 O’Clock Publishing and became the on line editor. I also started teaching adjunct, which I am particularly proud of and this experience has given me new found appreciation for my instructors, and is helping me think more deeply about academia.

The faculty at Marymount largely shaped my experience, and my relationships with my professors are some of my fondest memories. I think the personalized attention I received from faculty significantly contributed to my success. In addition, my degree prepared me well for a job in publishing, and for graduate school.

One of my major goals is to pay off my students loans as quickly as I can. In terms of a career, I hope to one-day work full time in academia whether that be administratively or as an instructor.

Decide what you want to do with your degree before you begin college. Knowing what you want to do helps focus your coursework, projects, papers, and internships in a very targeted direction, which makes entering the workforce easier because you then have tangible experience to support your job search. It is okay to enter college not quite knowing what direction you want to head, but by the time you begin your sophomore year, you should have an industry and a few ideal companies in mind.
