All students at Marymount are required to complete an internship for credit*. This graduation requirement has two components – the internship itself and the internship course. <\/span>Students are responsible for finding their own internships.<\/span><\/p>\n *with the exception of some Health Sciences, Nursing, and Education majors, where the requirement is built into the program.<\/span><\/p>\n Internship for Credit Instructions & Process<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n Search and apply for internships on Handshake, LinkedIn, other job websites, and through networking at career fairs. While you are in the process of searching, applying, and interviewing, we recommend you speak with your Academic Internship Mentor about your internship to ensure it meets learning outcomes and objectives and qualifies as an internship for credit.<\/p>\n Other resour<\/span>ces:<\/span><\/p>\n Find and verify that the internship course for your major is being offered in the semester you want to complete your internship on Marynet<\/a>. You cannot register for an internship for credit if the internship course for your major is not offered. Please note, you will be automatically registered for your internship after <\/strong>you complete all the steps listed in this guide.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n Report your internship for credit in Handshake. Please see the resources below to help you report and submit your internship for credit form.<\/p>\n Additional resources:<\/p>\n Once you submit your internship form in Handshake, your form will need to be approved by (1) Career Development, (2) your Academic Internship Mentor, and (3) the Director of your school. After gaining all approvals, the Director of your school will register you for your internship course. All approvals must be completed by the deadline for a complete application. This process can take time and last-minute requests are honored at the discretion of the Director of Career Development.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n If you are an undergraduate student with an F-1 visa<\/span>, you will need to complete one additional step – report this internship to the ISSS office. As soon as you receive approval on Handshake and have been registered for the Internship class, you must report this internship to the ISSS office, via the <\/span>ISSS portal<\/span><\/a>, in order to get an off-campus practical training permit endorsement in your I-20 CPT. Students will be issued a new I-20 with their internship information listed on it regardless of if they are receiving payment or not for the internship. Students must have an I-20 issued to them before they start their internship to be in compliance with labor and immigration regulations.<\/span><\/p>\n To report your internship, visit the ISSS portal<\/a>.
