Acculturation Programs & Events

Marymount University and the International Student Services Office (ISS) are committed to a student-centered learning community that values diversity. ISS strives to further global awareness through a wide variety of intercultural and educational programs for the University community, these programs give an opportunity for students to share their rich cultures and be engaged in the University community.

Fall 2020 Major Acculturation Events


Session 1:
Online via zoom- January 14, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Session 2:
Online via zoom – January 15, 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Description: Students are required to attend this event, sign up for one of the small group sessions. In this session we will address many topics including immigration, legal responsibilities, employment, the U.S. educational system, academic planning, banking,  cultural transition issue and campus life. You will also have plenty of time to meet other international students.

ISS Open House and Immigration Check-in

Description: Students are strongly encouraged to attend this event. New students can take advantage of the event to complete their immigration check-in. Also, it is a great opportunity to meet other students and understand what services the ISS office offers to students and how they can use our resources.

Monthly Pizza and Conversation

Description: Join this support group and talk about topics that concern us as international students.   It’s a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental atmosphere.
We are sorry, but this semester no food will be offered because of the COVID-19 pandemic. We encourage you to bring your own lunch.

Description: F-1 visa holding students must attend a workshop so they can learn about internships and employment opportunities after graduation. International student advisors will go over the application requirements and deadlines.

Travel Signatures
