FNP Post-Master’s Certificate Program
The post-master’s certificate program prepares individuals with an MSN to sit for nationally recognized family nurse practitioner (FNP) certification examinations offered by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) and the American Nurses Credentialing Committee (ANCC).

Application Deadlines:
Fall 2022 enrollment only: June 15, 2022
Admissions Requirements:
- Graduate Application
- Official transcripts of all postsecondary education including evidence of having earned a Nursing degree from an accredited college or university. Certificate applicants must hold an MSN with a minimum GPA of 3.30
- Evidence of RN licensure in Virginia
- Two narrative letters of recommendation from professionals who can attest to the applicant’s potential for graduate work. At least one should be from a direct supervisor (not a charge nurse) within the past two years and the other from an employer or professor who can attest to the applicant’s potential for work
- 250-500 word professional essay describing professional goals and motivation for seeking the degree
- Copy of APN certification, as applicable
Residency Requirements for Certificate Students:
Certificate-seeking students must complete two-thirds of the required credits at Marymount University
Additional Admissions Requirement Guidelines:
For university coursework completed outside the U.S., an official course-by-course evaluation of your transcript is required from one of these approved evaluation agencies; World Education Services, Inc. and Educational Credentials Evaluators.
Students for whom English is a second language must submit a recent official score from the TOEFL of 96, IELTS of 6.5, or PTE Academic exam of 58, or documentation of graduation from one of Marymount University’s language partners.
