Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society

Alpha Beta Delta Chapter, Marymount University
KDP is an international honor society in Education dedicated to those demonstrating high academic achievement, a commitment to education as a career, and a professional attitude that assures steady growth in the field. Initiation into the Alpha Beta Delta chapter at Marymount University are held each Spring.

Membership Criteria

Undergraduates:

  • Be enrolled in an institution offering an education degree and the intent to continue academically and professionally in the field of education;
  • Demonstrate leadership attributes;
  • Complete at least 30 credit hours of collegiate course work;
  • Have at least 12 credit hours in education course work in progress, or completed;
  • Earn a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or greater;
  • Receive an invitation to membership from the Chapter at the university where you are currently enrolled.

Graduate Students:

  • Have graduate standing in an institution offering an advanced education degree and the intent to continue academically and professionally in the field of education;
  • Demonstrate leadership attributes;
  • Complete at least 6 credit hours of graduate course work;
  • Have at least 12 credit hours in education course work in progress, or completed;
  • Earn a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher for all graduate coursework completed

Agriculture in the Classroom

​Over the past 10 years, Agriculture in the Classroom provides professional development workshops and resources to pre-service teachers;

  • Project WILD, Aquatics WILD, Flying WILD, and Project Learning Tree provide resources for professional development;
  • National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) memberships are granted to all pre-service teachers. MU-NSTA Student Chapter membership is acquired in the science methodology classes. Members of MU-NSTA Student Chapter are required to attend at least one of the three STEM events conducted annually as part of a service project;
  • Population in Education, D.C. is now partnered with Marymount University in the delivery of thematic unit plans.

Teachers of Tomorrow

Teachers of Tomorrow is a group of Marymount students who are majoring or minoring in education. The members are interested in educational leadership and networking opportunities on campus. Some advantages of participation in the group include:

  • Free membership
  • Campus “What’s the tea?” conversations related to topics of interest with other students, recent graduates, and/or faculty members at Marymount
  • Fun socials including an Education Open House with education faculty members, Friendsgiving, and a Spring Fling
  • Community service projects such as HalloweenFest and outreach programs at local schools
  • Leadership opportunities to enhance resume
