Student Teaching
The student-teaching internship covers 14 weeks, Monday through Friday in the last semester of the program. Students are placed in a variety of school settings including public, private, Catholic, or independent schools in the greater Washington, DC, area. Students may request the school division in which he or she wants to student teach.
Out-of-area student teaching placements are available and may be arranged by the Office of Education Clinical Experiences. Students may also student teach abroad. Placements are currently available in Rome, Italy, Auckland, New Zealand, and Buenos Aires, Argentina.

This program will prepare you to be licensed teacher in one of the following:

- Elementary Education (grades PK-6)
- Secondary Education (grades 6-12):

- History
- Special Education: General Curriculum (grades K-12)
Though area school systems continue to experience budget cuts, Marymount students continue to be hired as contracted teachers upon graduation, particularly in the areas of elementary education, special education, and secondary math and science.
Your VA license can be transferred to the following states Per the National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification(NASDTEC) Interstate Agreement.
