Art majors have many university electives, and you can earn a minor from another department that can help you enter into an arts-related career, or gain acceptance into the graduate program that you need for that career.
The Department of Fine Arts wants to help you find an art-related career. In addition to the pursuing one of the Fine Arts pre-professional career tracks or adding one of our Fine Arts minors, you might also consider a minor from another department to pursue particular degree paths:
Business Administration minor
Social Entrepreneurship minor
Any Art major who wants to pursue a career as a Professional Artist should consider taking business classes. A business minor minors can also lead to a career as an Arts Management Professional, but the department recommends instead its Arts Management degree track.
Graphic and Media Design minor
Web Design minor
Computer Science minor
Information Technology minor
Media and Performance Studies minor
Any of these minors could help prepare Art majors for a career as a Video Game Designer, Web Designer, or Online Advertising Artist.
Fashion Design minor
This minor can help lead to a career as a Costume Designer, Theater Designer, or Production Designer and Art Director for film and video.
Theology and Religious Studies minor
Art majors who are interested in specializing in religious art or decoration might pursue this minor.
