Position Summary: This is a unique opportunity for a student interested in developing a firsthand understanding of working in a community-driven non-profit. We are seeking someone who is driven, task-oriented, passionate about engaging in community work, and interested in working with older adults and members of the LGBTQ community to reduce isolation and improve quality of life. The intern would work directly with our Digital Media and Grant Program Strategist, responsible for our social media, website, and LGBTQ grant. This internship will be conducted in person and virtually. This internship would have a 7-month duration (October 2023 to May 2024, with a break in January if the student has winter break). With the opportunity to continue into the summer (May 2024 to August 2024). Interns are expected to work between 8 to 12 hours/week and some weekend hours as needed but may work more if their academic program requires. This would be an unpaid internship. We can provide a transportation stipend.

Arlington Neighbourhood Village Summer Internship

Position Description — Student intern creates the graphic design for the print and digital materials for a new Ambassador Program for older adults in Arlington County. The Ambassador Program is designed to develop a team of volunteers trained to provide information on the myriad services available to Arlington older adults across the county. A database of older adult services will be the student’s starting point from which the materials will be created. This internship is ideal for graphic design, visual development, communications, community health services, and new program development students. The final deliverable will be print and digital collateral materials that enumerate and describe the older adult services amassed in the ANV database.

RECONNECTIONS INTERN PROJECT

Previous Internship and Volunteering OpportunitiesInsight Memory Care Center (IMCC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with a mission to provide specialized care, support, and education for individuals in all stages of memory or cognitive impairment, their care partners, and the community. Our vision is a community where those with memory or cognitive impairment and their care partners can achieve the highest quality of life.

Objective:  Help IMCC develop an outcomes protocol consisting of assessment tools and an ongoing assessment timeline to look at measures such as quality of life, mood, cognition, fall risk, and IADLs for people in the early stage of dementia that participate in our enrolled Reconnections social club model program.
