Date | Time | Title | Description |
8/20/20 | 7-8:00pm | Then and Now: Reflections from Black Alumni | Alumni reflect on life at Marymount and share their successes since graduation. This session is meant to inspire and inform the Marymount Community about diverse perspectives and experiences. Click here to view the video. |
8/7/20 | 11:30am-1pm | Microaggressions – Impact vs. Intent | Microaggressions contribute to folks feeling unheard, unwelcome, and disconnected within the MU community. While they are very common, microaggressions can be difficult for some of us to recognize and- harder still- to address in a healthy way. This session will illuminate the concept of microaggression to those who may be unfamiliar, break down their impact on us individually and as a community, and offer ways of addressing them when they arise. We encourage community members at all levels of awareness regarding this issue to participate in gaining a deeper understanding of the MU culture and how each of us can help to improve our own, and others’, experiences here. Faciliated by Dr. Laura Finkelstein, AVP Student Health and Well Being. |
7/28/20 | 11:30am-1pm | Inclusive Teaching Methods | The purpose of this session is for members of the MU community who provide instruction in a classroom setting to share inclusive teaching methods that work and to seek any guidance on making their instructional spaces and teaching methods more inclusive in areas where they have struggled in the past. The discussion is intended for classroom and group facilitators – all are welcome. Faciliated by Dr. Camille Buckner (Psychology) and Dr. Susan Agolini (Biology). |
7/22/20 | 3-4pm | A Changing Conversation on Racism – A Catholic Perspective | Join Call to Action Maryland, an organization that focuses on activating Catholics for social justice, in a workshop by Joan and Ryan Sattler. The conversation must change the narrative on how we talk about systemic racism, white privilege and becoming an anti-racist. For a “honest conversation” to take place, we may need to become uncomfortable. |
7/14/20 | 1-2:30pm | Conversations in Color | Join us for a support group for Marymount faculty and staff of Color. Faciliated by Dr. Sara Hallisey (Indian-American she/her) and Dr. Michelle Zaleski (Chicana she/her) from the Literature and Languages Department. |
7/8/20 | 3:30-4:30pm | Self-Care and Wellness for Students of Color | Join us as we unpack what self-care and wellness really mean and how we can incorporate it into our daily lives. Q&A session to follow. Faciliated by Karina Guzman, Director of Wellness. |
