How Counseling Can Help. The demands and expectations of school, work, activities, and relationships can feel overwhelming. Our counselors can help you identify and solve problems, increase self-understanding, adjust to college, improve academic performance, manage distressing feelings and experiences, and develop and maintain healthy relationships.
How it Works. When you meet with a counselor for the first time, you will fill out initial paperwork and a counselor will determine the best treatment for you. This may include individual counseling, group counseling, or a referral to an outside specialist. All of our services are free and confidential; except in rare and clearly defined situations involving serious risk, no client information is shared with anyone outside SCS without the client’s written permission. We also provide preventative outreach on mental health topics as well as consultations with faculty, staff, parents, and friends concerned about a student in distress.
