Self-Assessment

The Career Services Resource Library houses computers available for job searches as well as for career exploration using Focus 2.

Focus 2 Career Planning Software System

New Student and Alumni Users -
Contact Career Services at (703) 284-5960 or career.services@marymount.edu to obtain our school's key code and then create your free account.

Returning Users - Access your Focus 2 account with your previously created user name and password. You must complete the entire inventory to generate a summary report that can be saved and printed. However, the entire inventory does not need to be completed in one session. The software stores your information for each section you complete for future reference.

Additional Career Exploration Resources
In addition to FOCUS 2, the Center for Career Services administers and interprets the following instruments to help you discover your interests and skills:

  • Myers-Briggs Type Inventory (MBTI) - $15 fee
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) assessment is a psychometric questionnaire designed to measure psychological preferences in how people perceive the world and make decisions. According to the MBTI, each of us falls into one of 16 personality types. The thorough report you will receive from taking this assessment will identify job families and occupations that are a good fit for your particular reported MBTI type. This information can then be used to assist you in choosing a specific job or career, selecting a college major or course of study, identifying strengths and potential weaknesses of your type for the career search process, and planning your career development strategy and action steps.

  • Strong Interest Inventory - $20 fee
Before one can select a career, they first need to find the path that’s right for them – the Strong Interest Inventory is a great way to inform and support this process of exploration. By giving you insight into your interests, preferences, and personal styles, the Strong Interest report will allow you to identify specific courses, jobs, internships, and activities that you will likely to enjoy. With this information, you can figure out how maximize your time here at Marymount and ensure your progression towards a meaningful and satisfying future career.

The Center for Career Services is a cashless office. We accept payment by check (payable to Marymount Center for Career Services) or debit/credit cards.
