Dr. Theresa Perfetta Cappello is dean of Marymount University's School of Health Professions. She has taught and held leadership positions in the School since 1984. She became its dean in 2002.
Under her leadership, the traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Accelerated (second-degree) BSN, for those with a degree in another field, were established, as well as the University's first two practice doctorates – the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP).
Committed to community outreach, Dr. Cappello established a Nurse-managed Health Center at a local Catholic church to deliver health education and screening programs to low income/underserved individuals, many of whom speak English as a second language.
