Dr. Susan Bidwell came to Marymount in 1980 with considerable experience in community and community mental health nursing plus teaching experience at the graduate level. She has continued to pursue clinical interests, during the past 12 years as a Clinical Specialist in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing in a private therapy practice.
Dr. Bidwell has taught a variety of courses during her tenure at Marymount and has served on numerous committees. She is particularly proud of her role in initiating the first Nursing study abroad course, an experience evaluated very positively by participating students and faculty. In addition, Dr. Bidwell serves as Graduate Nursing Programs Chair and, as such, has been very involved in the development of the Doctor of Nursing Practice program.
Dr. Bidwell holds memberships in the American and Virginia Nurses Associations, Eta Alpha and Kappa Chapters of Sigma Theta Tau, and associate membership in the American Association of Marital and Family Therapists.
