Mike Bekampis is quick to respond when you ask him about his favorite event on campus: it’s when Marymount students, faculty, and staff took the stage with professional dancers from the Fred Astaire Studios for the first-ever “Dancing with the MU Stars.” Mike said, “It was so fun to see the professional dancers teach the amateur dancers, especially when you knew most of them.” More than just a fun time, the event raised money for the MU Presidential Assistance Fund, which helps students who encounter unexpected financial hardship. Mike believes this is a new tradition in the making and shows that the Marymount experience is more than just academics. “What I love about Marymount is that they work to create whole individuals. They provide the best education AND the best experience so you’re prepared for the real world and can become a well-rounded person.”
Mike has his favorite spots and activities in Washington, DC, as well. Favorite spot: the National Mall. Favorite activity in DC: watching hockey games at the Verizon Center. Looking to the future, he plans on a career in marketing research, public relations, or market analysis.
