Douglas Seidler teaches an expansive curriculum of graduate and undergraduate courses, including Materials and Methods Studio, Retail Design, Senior Studio, Computer Drafting, and Design Communication.
Seidler is an NCIDQ Certificate holder and a LEED Accredited Professional for New Construction and Existing Buildings.
With more than 12 years of professional experience, Seidler led numerous design projects with The Scott Partnership in Orlando, FL; Morris Architects in Orlando, FL; and most recently Ellenzweig Associates in Cambridge, MA. During this time, Seidler worked on projects for the Hard Rock Café, Orlando, and the Portofino Bay Hotel, Orlando. He is an associate member of the American Institute of Architects/Boston Society of Architects (AIA/BSA).
Seidler's academic research focuses on the application of pedagogical research in design education. He has published two textbooks. Digital Drawing for Designers: A Visual Guide to AutoCAD – Seidler’s first book – explores the relationship between hand drawing and digital drawing. Hand Drawing for Designs, co-authored with Amy Korté, explores hand drawing as a tool to explore, refine, and communicate design.
Seidler pursued his master’s in Architecture at the University of Florida. While at the University, he studied at the Vicenza Institute of Architecture (Vicenza, Italy) and the Preservation Institute: Nantucket (Nantucket, MA). Graduating at the top of his class, Seidler was awarded the AIA Henry Adams Medal.
