Late Comeback Bid Falls Short for Women’s Soccer
Fredericksburg, Va. – Marymount University’s women’s soccer team fell 2-1 on the road at Capital Athletic Conference rival Mary Washington on Tuesday afternoon. The Saints drop to 5-7 overall and 2-3 in league play.
Trailing by two goals with 10 minutes remaining, Marymount jumped on the board for the first time at the 82:15 mark courtesy of an Erin Harris goal off a free kick from 25 yards out. Despite pulling within one, the Saints couldn’t muster another shot down the stretch despite aggressive attempts to control the ball.
April Westmark collected six saves between the pipes for MU in the loss.
Marymount returns to action on Saturday as it hosts St. Mary’s (Md.) in CAC play. Kick-off is set for 1 p.m. and fans can follow the action live by logging on to www.marymount.edu/athletics/wSoccer and selecting the “live stats” link.
