Arlington, Va. – Marymount University’s women’s basketball team is teaming with the Arlington Street People’s Assistance Network for Operation: “Sock it to Me” to help the homeless over the December holidays. The Saints are collecting necessity goods in an attempt to create at least 100 care packages to be distributed across Arlington County.
Each package will contain travel sized toothpaste, tooth brushes, soap, shampoo, razors, combs, hair brushes, hand sanitizer, deodorant, lotion, body wash, ChapStick, Band-Aids, small packets of Kleenex and snack bars. The items will then be placed in a new pair of socks and delivered to the local homeless with the help of A-SPAN.
Marymount will be collecting donations through December on-campus and at all home basketball games. Designated drop boxes will be located in the atrium of the Rose Bente’ Lee Center, the lobby of Rowley Hall and Academic Center, the lobby of Gerard Phelan Hall and the Gerard Dining Hall.
