Men’s Lacrosse Edged by Gwynedd-Mercy
Gwynedd Valley, Pa. – Marymount University’s men’s lacrosse team dropped an 8-6 non-conference decision to Gwynedd-Mercy on Wednesday afternoon. The loss is the fourth of the season for the Saints by just two goals or fewer.
Senior Chris Wascak led the Saints (1-5) with three goals while seniors Jeff Cook and Tom Anderson, along with sophomore Jack Burke, added goals.
The Griffins jumped on the board first and eventually took a 4-2 lead into halftime. Gwynedd-Mercy held the Saints scoreless in the opening quarter and added a cushion goal right before the halftime whistle.
Marymount dominated the third period, scoring four unanswered goals and holding GMC scoreless to take a 6-4 lead into the final stanza.
Gwynedd-Mercy scored almost immediately into the fourth to pull within one before a string of MU penalties doomed the Saints down the stretch. The Griffins netted three man-up goals over a four minute span to put the game away.
Dustin Mangin led GMC with two goals. Six other Griffins scored single goals.
Marymount returns to action on Saturday at home against DeSales.
