Danni Bankins Named CAC Defensive Player of the Week
York, Pa. – Marymount University’s women’s soccer sophomore Danni Bankins was named the Capital Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday. Bankins anchored a Saints backfield that posted a pair of shutouts to open the season.
In the season opener against Trinity (D.C.), a 7-0 victory for the Blue and White, Bankins and the rest of the Saints defense held the Tigers to just one shot on the day.
Holding Trinity without a shot in the second half, MU matched the feat in the opening frame of a 2-0 shutout victory over Greensboro. In all, the Saints held the Pride to just six shots in the game.
Marymount returns to action on Tuesday at McDaniel College.
