Women’s Volleyball Drops CAC Finale; Earns Second-Seed in Postseason Draw
Salisbury, Md. – Marymount University’s women’s volleyball team fell 3-0 (25-23, 25-11. 25-23) on the road at 17th-ranked Salisbury in its final regular season Capital Athletic Conference match of the year. The loss dropped the Saints into a three-way tie for second place in the league standings.
Necessitating a coin toss to determine seeding between the tied teams, Marymount came out on top and claimed the second-seed in the draw. The Saints earn an opening round bye and will host the winner of the First Round match between third-seeded St. Mary’s (Md.) and sixth-seeded York (Pa.) on Thursday, November 1st at 7 p.m.
Jenn Forbes led the Saints with nine kills while Johanna Hummel added eight. Both Erin Allison and Morgan McAlpin added six each.
Defensively, Michelle McCormick paced MU with 21 digs. McAlpin led the way with four blocks while Emily Shultis added three.
Marymount returns to action on Saturday at a tri-match with Elizabethtown and FDU-Florham.
