Arlington, Va. – Marymount University’s women’s basketball team collected $300 during Wednesday’s Capital Athletic Conference victory over Wesley as part of the Play4Kay initiative. Play4Kay is the official charity is the Kay Yow Cancer Fund®, in partnership with the WBCA and The V Foundation. It is a program for a nation of coaches to raise breast cancer awareness and funds for research on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond.
Since the initiative’s inception in 2007, Play 4Kay has raised nearly $1.7 million for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. The Kay Yow Cancer Fund is a charitable organization committed to finding an answer in the fight against women’s cancers through raising money for scientific research and related programs, assisting the under-served and unifying people for a common cause. The Fund is named after the late Kay Yow, former NC State University head women’s basketball coach, who passed away after her courageous 22-year battle with breast cancer.
