Women’s Lacrosse Edged in CAC Finale, Earns 5th Seed in League Tournament
St. Mary’s City, Md. – Marymount University’s women’s lacrosse team fell 19-13 in its Capital Athletic Conference finale at St. Mary’s (Md.) on Saturday afternoon. The Saints drop to 7-7 overall and 2-4 in league play.
Marymount earns the fifth-seed in the upcoming CAC playoffs and will once again face St. Mary’s (7-9, 3-3 CAC) on Tuesday.
Taylor Johnson led the Saints with five goals while Molly Maher, Stephanie Keane and Chelsea Ritter each added two. Stephanie Flood and Rachel Duff both chipped in a lone goal as well.
Megan McGuirk, Flood, Maher and Ritter all tallied assists as well.
Flood led the Saints with eight draw controls and three caused turnovers. Maher collected four ground balls with McGuirk adding three.
In goal, Kiki Niebuhr (7-7) hauled in 15 saves for the Blue and White.
Amelia Tenberg led St. Mary’s with six goals.
Marymount returns to action against St. Mary’s in the CAC Tournament First Round on Tuesday in St. Mary’s City.
