Women’s Volleyball Splits Tri-Match
Williamsport, Pa. – Marymount University’s women’s volleyball team split a road tri-match in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon. The Saints dropped the opener 3-1 (23-25, 25-16, 25-18, 27-25) to Moravian before beating host Lycoming 3-1 (25-16, 18-25, 25-14, 25-17).
With the split, Marymount improve to 23-8 overall on the season and is just two wins shy of the program record set in 1997.
Against Moravian, Erin Allison led the Saints with 14 kills while Melissa Warren added a double-double with 23 assists and 13 digs. Defensively, Michelle McCormick collected 15 digs while Jenn Forbes added five blocks.
In the win over Lycoming, the Saints middle hitter dominated the action. Forbes led Marymount with 12 kills at a .588 hitting percentage while Morgan McAlpin added 11 kills without committing an error for a .578 clip.
As a team, the Saints recorded 11 service aces with Michelle McCormick leading the way with five.
Defensively, Kayla Stinson notched nine digs in just three sets of action while McAlpin recorded five blocks at the net.
Marymount returns to action on Wednesday as it closes out Capital Athletic Conference play on the road at Salisbury.
