Men’s Swimming Places Seventh at F&M Invitational
Lancaster, Pa. – Marymount University’s men’s swimming team placed seventh of nine teams at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational over the weekend. The Saints scored in five relays and eight individual events for 176 team points.
Opening scoring in the 200 freestyle relay, the team of Michael Yelmgren, Ryan Kilmon, William Sakell and Brian Tinsman finished sixth with a time of 1:33.36. Kilmon, Yelmgren and Tinsman then teamed with Greg Shumaker to place seventh in the 400 Medley Relay with a time of 3:54.67 before Kilmon, Shumaker, Yelmgren and Sakell partnered up to finish eighth in the 200 Medley Relay with 1:48.55.
Tinsman kicked off the individual scoring by placing 13th in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:51.66, Shumaker and Christian Jacky went 15th and 16th in the 100 breaststroke with times of 1:08.24 and 1:08.76, respectively and Yelmgren and Kilmon placed ninth and 10th in the 100 backstroke at 55.69 and 57.08.
Wrapping up Saturday’s events, Thomas Baroz, Sakell, Everett Neiman and Tinsman teamed to finish sixth in the 800 freestyle relay with a time of 7:57.12.
Sunday’s scoring opened up with Yelmgren placing ninth in the 200 backstroke with 2:03.72 and Kilmon finished 13th in the event at 2:10.05. Tinsman then placed 16th in the 100 freestyle with 50.78, Shumaker was 16th in the 200 breaststroke at 2:28.99, Baroz was 12th in the 200 butterfly at 2:15.67 and the team of Yelmgren, Kilmon, Shumaker and Tinsman placed sixth in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:27.93.
The Saints closed out the Invitational in the 1650 freestyle as Neiman placed ninth with a time of 18:30.57.
Marymount returns to action after the New Year by hosting CAC foes Mary Washington and Salisbury January 15.
