Men’s Lacrosse Falls to #14 Hampden-Sydney
Hampden-Sydney, Va. – Marymount University’s men’s lacrosse team dropped a non-conference showdown with 14th-ranked Hampden-Sydney 13-6 on Saturday afternoon.
Senior attack Chris Wascak led the Saints (0-4) with three goals and an assist while freshman Connor Kellogg added a pair of goals and senior Jeff Cook chipped in one. Senior Tom Anderson, junior Matt Hershel and senior Fran Turella each tallied an assist as well.
Defensively, junior Ross Fernandez logged a full 60 minutes in goal and collected 11 saves. He also caused a team-high four turnovers and hauled in seven ground balls.
Marymount kept things close to start as Kellogg scored the opening goal with an assist from Wascak to take an early lead. Hampden-Sydney (3-0) would respond only to have MU answer right back goal-for-goal through the second stanza at 4-4.
The Tigers then scored six unanswered goals over the next quarter and a half to put the game away.
Ben Clarke, Ryan Martin, Cole Hawthorne, Jess Hawthorne and Nate Cundy each scored two goals for H-SC.
Marymount returns to action on Monday in a non-conference game at Southwestern University in Katy, Texas.
