Men’s Soccer Tops Gettysburg with Late Goal
Gettysburg, Pa. – Marymount University’s men’s soccer team defeated Gettysburg 2-1 on a goal with less than two minutes to play on Wednesday night in non-conference action. The Saints improve to 4-5 overall on the season heading into Capital Athletic Conference play.
Max Banziger banged home the game-winner in the 89th minute, collecting a cross from Akram Bensalem and finding the back of the net. The goal was Banziger’s third of the year.
Bensalem also notched the game’s first goal, scoring off of a free kick by Onar Yousefi in the 40th minute.
Logan Cropper earned the victory in goal, collecting four saves between the pipes.
Brooks Taylor scored the lone goal for the Bullets.
The Saints return to action on Saturday as it hosts St. Mary’s (Md.) to open the CAC slate as part of Marymount’s homecoming celebration. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m. and fans can follow the action live by logging on to www.marymount.edu/athletics/mSoccer and selecting the “live stats” link.
