York, Pa. – Marymount University junior Tancy Weatherford was named the Capital Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday. Weatherford led the Saints to their first CAC win of the season over Wesley and a near come-from-behind upset of nationally-ranked rivals Mary Washington.
Scoring 12 goals and an assists on the week, Weatherford notched five goals in an 18-14 loss to No. 17 UMW. She helped the Saints trim a 12-goal second half deficit to just four but couldn’t complete the comeback.
Weatherford then led the Saints with seven goals and an assist in MU’s 24-19 victory over Wesley in CAC action. The 24 goals were the most by Marymount this season.
Also dominant on starting possessions, Weatherford collected 16 total draw controls in both games. She had eight against both UMW and the Wolverines.
