Women’s Volleyball Suffers First CAC Loss of Season
Arlington, Va. – Marymount University’s women’s volleyball team dropped its first Capital Athletic Conference match of the season with a 3-1 (25-21, 25-17, 19-25, 25-23) setback to visiting Mary Washington on Wednesday night. The Saints fall to 21-7 overall and 4-1 in league play but are still in contention for an opening round bye in the CAC Tournament.
Jenn Forbes led the Saints with 13 kills while Erin Allison added 11. Morgan McAlpin chipped in seven and Johanna Hummel added five.
Allison was also solid on the service line, collecting four aces on the night.
Defensively, Michelle McCormick led all players with 17 digs while both Allison and Cassidie Watson collected nine. Forbes earned six blocks at the net, including a pair of solo rejections, while McAlpin had four block and Allison, Hummel and Emily Shultis had three.
Kaitlynn Wickersham led the Eagles (7-12, 3-2 CAC) with a double-double, recording a match-high 16 kills to go with 11 digs.
