Women’s Soccer Falls in CAC Opener
Dover, Del. – Marymount University’s women’s soccer team dropped its Capital Athletic Conference opener 2-0 on the road at Wesley on Thursday night. The Saints fall to 3-2 on the season and 0-1 in league play.
Allowing a pair of first half goals, the Saints couldn’t mount the comeback despite nearly doubling their shot total in the second frame.
Julie Fioramonti led the Saints with three shots, followed by Katie Hamelin and Hannah Boswell with two each. Marymount logged 11 total shots in the game.
Victoria Wyand (2-2) earned the decision between the pipes. She hauled in six saves on the night, including four in the second half.
Samantha Lyon and Chelsi Biener both scored for the Wolverines (4-2-1, 1-0 CAC)
Marymount returns to action on Wednesday as it hosts future CAC foe Southern Virginia. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m. at Long Bridge Park.
