Women’s Volleyball Wins CAC Opener
Arlington, Va. – Marymount University’s women’s volleyball team won its Capital Athletic Conference opener with a 3-1 (25-10, 17-25, 25-12, 25-22) victory over visiting Frostburg State on Wednesday night. The Saints improve to 12-7 on the season an 1-0 in league play.
Morgan McAlpin led the Saints with 12 kills while Erin Allison added 10. Emileigh Rettig chipped in eight while Emily Shultis had seven and Johanna Hummel added six.
As a team, the Saints recorded 10 service aces with four coming from Rettig and another three from Allison.
Defensively, Rettig paced the Blue and White with 11 digs while Brianne Fitzpatrick, Allison and Cassidie Watson each had eight.
Marymount outhit the Bobcats (3-17, 0-1 CAC) on the night .287 to .114 while posting a pair of set with over a .400 hitting percentage.
The Saints return to action on Saturday as the travel to Lexington, Va., for a non-conference tri-match at Washington & Lee with Hollins.
