Arlington, Va. – Marymount University’s volleyball team split both ends of a tri-match on Saturday afternoon. The Saints swept Eastern Mennonite 3-0 (25-13, 25-22, 25-20) in the opener before falling 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-16) to St. Vincent in the final match of the day.
Erin Allison was almost unstoppable in the win over the Royals (5-13), posting a match-high 16 kills at a head-turning .480 attack percentage from the outside. She also added team-best four service aces and nearly notched a double-double with eight digs in the match.
Johanna Hummel also came up big for the Saints (5-11) against EMU, earning eight kills with just one error for a .333 clip and blocking five shots in the match. Jenn Forbes joined Hummel with five rejections while adding seven kills.
Defensively, Brianne Fitzpatrick led all players with 12 digs while Melissa Warren added 10 to go with 36 assists for a double-double.
Against the Bearcats (13-5), Hummel and Allison continued their strong attack. Hummel led Marymount with 10 kills and just two errors on 22 swings while Allison chipped in nine kills and digs each to go with another three aces. Forbes notched five kills without committing an attack error against SVC.
Marymount returns to the court on Wednesday as it hosts Salisbury in Capital Athletic Conference action.
