Men’s Hoops Snaps Five-Game Losing-Streak
Winchester, Va. - Marymount University’s men’s basketball team snapped a five-game losing-streak with an 83-73 non-conference victory over Shenandoah on Wednesday night. The Saints move to 4-10 overall on the season.
Five Saints scored in double-figures led by Jesse Konadu with 17 points. Antonio Rouse and Garrett Snoops both added 16, Reed Scott chipped in 12 and Andrew Somuah chimed in with 10.
John Magnani nearly posted a double-double for MU with nine points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
A back-and-forth first half saw four and three ties en route to the Hornets (3-12) taking a 29-26 lead into the break. Both squads would continue to trade leads through the first 10 minutes of the second half before a 12-0 run over the next three minutes put the game away for the Saints.
Marymount put together a solid night shooting from the floor, hitting 55.8 percent of their shots from the field. After hitting half their shots in the opening frame, the Saints lit up the nets with a sizzling 60.9% to close out the game.
Ross Heyl led the Hornets with 16 points while Avery Green added 13 and James Bowens had 12.
Marymount returns to the hardwood on Saturday as it takes on Stevenson in Capital Athletic Conference action.
