Women’s Volleyball Sweeps York

Arlington, Va. – Marymount University’s women’s volleyball team swept visiting York (Pa.) 3-0 (25-20, 25-12, 25-16) in Capital Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon. The Saints improve to 17-9 overall and 4-1 in league play.

Morgan McAlpin, the reigning CAC Player of the Week, led the Saints with 14 kills at a stellar .455 attack percentage. Emileigh Rettig added 11 kills while Emily Shultis had seven and Erin Allison chipped in five.

Brianne Fitzpatrick paced the offense with 33 assists.

Fitzpatrick and McAlpin both notched a pair of service aces as well.

Defensively, Allison led the way with 11 digs while Courtney Phung added 10. Shultis and Rettig both tallied three blocks at the net.

Marymount hit .260 on the day, including a sharp .321 in the final set. More impressively, the Saints held the Spartans (15-11, 2-2 CAC) to a meager .012 attack including forcing a negative hitting percentage in the second frame.

The Saints return to action on Wednesday as they travel to face CAC newcomer Southern Virginia.
