Harrisonburg, Va. – Marymount University’s volleyball team wrapped up the 2011 campaign with a pair of victories on Saturday afternoon. The Saints opened the day with a 3-1 (22-25, 26-24, 25-18, 26-24) win over Southern Virginia before topping host Eastern Mennonite 3-1 (22-25, 25-21, 25-10, 25-17) in the season finale.
In the opener, Erin Allison and Johanna Hummel both recorded a team-high 12 kills while Christine Gallart added nine. Jenn Forbes, Emily Shultis and Melissa Warren had seven, five and four kills, respectively, but each only committed one attack error in the match.
Defensively, Michelle McCormick led all players with 19 digs.
Against Southern Virginia, Forbes led the Saints with 14 kills while Allison and Gallart added 10 each. Hummel and Shultis also contributed heavily with eight kills apiece.
Three players logged double-figure digs against the Knights led by McCormick’s 21. Erin Allison and Melissa Warren both added 12, giving Warren a double-double to go with 42 assists.
At the net, the Saints combined for 12 blocks with Gallart contributing eight.
