Women’s Basketball Suffers Rare CAC Loss
York, Pa. – Marymount University’s women’s basketball team fell to York (Pa.) 54-38 in Capital Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon. The Saints drop just their second league game of the season.
Senior Beth Wiggins led the Saints (9-6, 7-2 CAC) with14 points and 13 rebounds while fellow senior Maame Amponsah added 15 boards.
Neither squad shot particularly well, but the Spartans (9-8, 6-3 CAC) converted seven more three-pointers than MU to pull away. Marymount outrebounded YCP and shot better from the free throw line than its host.
Kelsey Murphy paced the Spartans with 17 points while Aja Wallpher chipped in 10.
Marymount returns to the hardwood on Wednesday as it hosts archrival Mary Washington in CAC action at 6 p.m.
