Newport News, Va. – Six Marymount University student-athletes were named to the 2013 Virginia Sports Information Directors Academic All-State Team, as announced by the VaSID on Tuesday. Seniors Courtny Carroll, Katelyn Fischer, Krysti Patient, Nick Ryerson, Katie Scott and Greg Shumaker collected the award for the Saints.
A total of 221 student-athletes from 37 Virginia colleges and universities earned the accolade. Each school was allowed to nominate six deserving student-athletes who were at least a sophomore and had a minimum of a 3.2 grade point average for the honor. The team includes all levels of college athletics in Virginia.
VaSID is comprised of sports information or athletics communications professionals from intercollegiate institutions throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. Membership is open to any individual affiliated with one of the state's institutions at the NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III, NAIA, USCAA and community college levels, provided that individual's area of responsibility lies within the realm of sports information.
