Ashland, Va. – Marymount University’s women’s swimming team finished second of eight teams at the Randolph-Macon Invitational while the men’s squad placed third of six teams over the weekend. The Saints women were narrowly edged by the host Yellow Jackets by just 25 points despite winning 12 events in the two-day meet.
Anna Macedonia continued her dominance by winning all seven events she appeared in. As an individual, she won the 50 freestyle the 100 freestyle and the 100 backstroke while teaming for wins in the 200 freestyle relay, 400 freestyle relay, 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay.
Also impressive was Bridget Wunderly, winning the 200 butterfly, 200 medley relay, 400 medley relay and 800 freestyle relay while placing second in the 500 freestyle. Casey Thomas won the 100 freestyle, placed second in the 200 freestyle, and was on the winning teams of the 200 freestyle relay, 400 freestyle relay, 800 freestyle relay and 400 medley relay.
Kim Rizzo won the 200 backstroke, 400 IM and 800 freestyle relay while finishing second in the 200 IM. Katie Moran won the 200 freestyle relay, 400 freestyle relay and 200 medley relay while Meghan Morch won the 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay.
Rounding out the Saints superlatives, Emily Wagner won the 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay while Katie Scott won the 800 freestyle relay and placed second in the 200 freestyle and 1650 freestyle.
On the men’s side, Joseph Gardner won the 200 breaststroke and place third in the 200 freestyle, 400 freestyle relay and 800 freestyle relay. Greg Shumaker was second in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke while Ryan Kilmon place third in the 100 and 200 backstroke and the 400 freestyle relay.
Rett Neiman was second in the 1650 freestyle and third in the 800 freestyle relay, Tom Baroz was third in the 400 and 800 freestyle relays, Walker Flynn was third on the 800 freestyle relay and Willie Sakell was third on the 400 freestyle relay.
