Women’s Hoops Fall in Finals of Tip-Off Tournament

Arlington, Va. – Marymount University’s women’s basketball team fell in the finals of the Marymount Tip-Off Tournament 65-54 to visiting Manhattanville on Saturday night. Katelyn Fischer was named to the All-Tournament Team for her efforts.

Tynisha Parks led the Saints (1-2) with a game-high 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the floor while Carolyn Hildreth added 11, both coming off the bench. Fischer chipped in eight points to go with eight rebounds, seven assists and five steals in the loss.

Julie Tomesheski hauled in a game-high 12 rebounds for the Saints.

Kelli Hyjek led the Valiants with 15 points while Sarah Gibbs added 13 and Taylor Wilson had 12. Jennifer McSharar pulled down 10 rebounds for Manhattanville.

Wilson was named the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament for the champion Valiants. Hyjek and Fischer were also named all-tournament along with Sara Kinsley of Gettysburg and Roslyn Alexander from Lynchburg.
