Men’s Basketball Falls at No. 24 St. Mary’s
St. Mary’s City, Md. – Marymount University’s men’s basketball team fell 70-56 on the road at 24th-ranked St. Mary’s (Md.) in Capital Athletic Conference play on Saturday afternoon. The Saints drop to 2-5 overall on the season and 0-2 in league play.
Brenden Cuyler led the Saints with 15 points. Marcus Carmon and Antonio Rouse both added seven while three other players chipped in six.
Rick Narcisse paced the Blue and White with seven rebounds.
St. Mary’s (7-1, 2-0 CAC) jumped out to an early led and was up by as many as eight points with three minutes to play in the frame. The Saints would keep things close and finish the frame on an 8-4 run to pull within four at 31-27 going into halftime.
Coming out of the break, Marymount cut the SMC lead to three but couldn’t get any closer. St. Mary’s then pushed its lead to double-figures and help off the Saints the rest of the way.
Donn Hill led the Seahawks and all scorers with 18 points. Devin Spencer added 15 while Nick Laguerre had 12.
