Men’s Soccer Edged in CAC Opener
Arlington, Va. – Marymount University’s men’s soccer team dropped a tough 1-0 decision to visiting St. Mary’s (Md.) in both teams’ Capital Athletic Conference opener on Saturday night. The Saints fall to 4-6-0 overall and 0-1-0 in league play.
In a hard-fought battle that was consistent on both ends of the pitch all night, the Seahawks (3-4-1, 1-0-0 CAC) posted the lone goal of the night in the 67th minute.
Marymount outshot SMC 10-7 in the game and managed to get six of those on target. Onar Yousefi logged three shots on goal while Carlos Sanchez, Jorge Alvarado, Max Banziger and Akram Bensalem each added another.
Despite the loss, Logan Cropper (4-2) put together another nice performance between the pipes, hauling in a pair saves.
Marymount returns to action on Tuesday as it hosts former CAC foe Hood in non-conference play. Fans can follow the action live by logging on to www.marymount.edu/athletics/mSoccer and selecting the “live stats” link.
