Arlington, Va. – Marymount University’s women’s lacrosse team dropped a 14-11 non-conference decision to visiting Susquehanna on Saturday evening. The Saints fall to 3-4 on the season with the loss.
Stephanie Flood led the Saints with three goals while Tancy Weatherford, Lindsay Quinn and Chelsea Ritter all added a pair. Katie Dean and Cecilia Pasquale also scored for Marymount.
Defensively, Lourdes Lanzas collected 17 saves between the pipes in the loss. Pasquale led MU with four caused turnovers while Quinn had six ground balls.
Marymount opened the game on a tear, jumping to an early 4-0 lead in the first five minutes of action. Susquehanna (3-3) would battle back, scoring six of the next seven goals to take the lead and eventually going into halftime up 8-7.
After an early goal by Flood opened the second half scoring, SU scored five unanswered goals over the next 12 minutes to put the game out of reach despite a 3-1 run by the Saints to close out the game.
Michelle McGinniss led the Crusaders with five goals while Erin Dyer added four.
Marymount returns to the field on Wednesday at Stevenson in Capital Athletic Conference action. The game will be televised in the Baltimore area on WBAL Plus, seen on Comcast Cable 208, Verizon FiOS 460 and digital channel 11-2.
